A little bit more about West Coast Nurseries Corp
West Coast Nurseries Corp began doing business in 1984 principally as a wholesaler with most of our plant material being purchased in from other suppliers both locally and from Hawaii and Florida. As the years progressed we ventured more and more into growing our own plant material here in California as well as broadening our relationship with other producers in Hawaii and Florida. The late 80s and 90s found us expanding in both our growing and wholesaling, with expansion of additional greenhouse space located in Encinitas area of coastal north county San Diego.
In 1999 we began our venture into growing material in Hawaii. Just a short time later, early in the new millennium natural gas prices skyrocketed, actually the price tripled. We responded to this crisis as did many other growers looking for ways to increase our heating efficiency in order to continuing growing a competitive product in Southern California. We made the decision to install state of the art boilers and climate control systems in our newer inland facility. At the same time land values surged, with many coastal area greenhouses making way for residential homes (sometimes you just can not stop progress). Then , just a few short years later we found ourselves reducing our greenhouse space in Southern California while expanding our growing operations in Hawaii.
As of the Fall of 2003, we consolidated our California operation to our inland greenhouse range located in San Marcos, California.
As of the present, it is our goal to continue responding to our customers needs by offering high quality plant material as well as some hard goods. To that end we have been working hard to produce more high quality plant material out of our Hawaiian facilities as well stock additional types of plant material grown locally. These recent additions to our offerings have allowed West Coast Nurseries to be your one stop shop.
